How to Sign Into OneDrive

This article explains how to sign in to OneDrive on Windows 10, macOS, and on the web. OneDrive is an online file storage service (similar to Box Drive) and is used to backup and share files with others at the university. With your UVU email account, you can use OneDrive to easily sync files between your computers and mobile devices.

How to Sign in to OneDrive

Signing into OneDrive on Windows 10 (Option 1)
  1. Click on the folder icon in the taskbar to launch File Explorer.

  2. Click on the OneDrive icon in File Explorer. If you don't see the OneDrive icon, you can find OneDrive by typing it into Windows search.

  3. Enter your @uvu.edu email address and click Sign in.

  4. Sign in with your UVID and password.

  5. Click Next. You may be prompted with a notification that says a OneDrive folder already exists. Click Use this folder.

  6. You'll be asked which folders to backup to OneDrive (desktop, documents, or pictures).

    1. If you do not wish to backup everything, uncheck each option and click Skip.

  7. Click Next through the setup options.

Signing into OneDrive on Windows 10 (Option 2, if Option 1 Doesn't Work)
  1. Click on the folder icon in the taskbar to launch File Explorer. If you don't see the OneDrive icon, you can move to “Signing in using Windows System Tray.”

  2. Open the System Tray and click the gray cloud icon.

  3. Click on the blue Sign in button.

  4. Enter your UVU email address and click Sign in.

  5. Sign in with your UVID and password.

  6. Click Next through the setup options. You can now use the OneDrive folder to drag and drop files.

Signing into OneDrive on macOS
  1. From Launchpad, launch the OneDrive application.

  2. Sign in with your UVU email.

  3. You will be taken to a UVU sign-in screen. Sign in with your UVID and password.

  4. The default location for your OneDrive folder is /Users/Your User/OneDrive. Hit Next.

  5. Hit Next through the setup options.

  6. Your OneDrive folder will appear under Favorites in Finder. You can drag/drop files, and create new folders here.

Signing into OneDrive on the Web
  1. Open a web browser and go to Office.com.

  2. Sign in with your UVU email.

  3. Sign in with your UVID and password.

  4. On the left side of the Office homepage, click on the OneDrive cloud icon.

  5. Once you're on the OneDrive homepage, you can drag and drop files, create new folders, or upload files and folders manually.
