How to Install Microsoft Outlook

How to install Outlook and other Microsoft Office 365 apps on your computer (Windows or Mac/Apple) or mobile device (Android or iOS).

Only current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to use Microsoft Office 365. This includes adjunct faculty and student employees.

If you’re eligible based on the criteria above, you must have the following to follow this guide:

Install Outlook on Your Computer or Mobile Device

Outlook Instructions for Windows

Uninstall Old Versions of Outlook or Microsoft Office

  1. Right-click on the Windows icon in the bottom left of the main display and select Apps and Features.

  2. Locate any Microsoft Office or Outlook applications in the list, click on the app icon, then press Uninstall to remove it from your computer.

  3. After you’ve received confirmation the uninstall process has been completed, restart the computer.

Download & Install Office 365

  1. Browse to outlook.office.com and log in using your UVID@uvu.edu as your username (example, 12345678@uvu.edu) and your myUVU password at the login prompt.

  2. Your Outlook inbox will appear. 

  3. Once logged in to your inbox click on the waffle iron (9-dots) icon at the top left of the page and select the Office 365 link from the dropdown menu. This will open a new tab.

  4. Click on the Install Office menu at the upper right and select Office 365 apps to download the installer. If prompted, you will have to allow/approve downloads from the site.

  5. Run the downloaded executable to install Office 365.

  6. Open Outlook or another Office 365 app and sign in using your UVID@uvu.edu and myUVU password.

Uninstall Old Versions of Outlook or Microsoft Office

  1. Open the Finder window and click on Applications.

  2. Locate any Microsoft Office or Outlook applications (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc). While holding down the Ctrl key click on the app icon and select Move to Trash.

  3. Navigate to the recycle/trash bin and select Empty Trash or while holding down the Ctrl key click on the recycle/trash bin icon and select Empty Trash.

  4. Restart the computer.

Download & Install Outlook or Office 365

  1. From the Apple menu, select App Store, and download Outlook or Office 365.

  2. Open Outlook or another Office 365 app and sign in using your UVID@uvu.edu and myUVU password.

Outlook Instructions for iPhone or iPad

Download & Install Outlook or Office 365

  1. Go to the Apple App Store. 

  2. Download and install the Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft 365 mobile app.

  3. Open Outlook and sign in using your UVID@uvu.edu and myUVU password.

Outlook Instructions for Android

Download & Install Outlook or Office 365

  1. Go to the Google Play Store.

  2. Download and install Outlook for Android or Office for Android app.

  3. Open Outlook and sign in using your UVID@uvu.edu and myUVU password.
