What To Do If Headphones Are Beeping While Mic Is Muted When Using Microsoft Teams

Published Date:

Description

This article gives instructions for what to do if your Aeropex Headphones start beeping every 10 seconds because you have muted yourself during a Microsoft Teams meeting.

After a recent MS Teams update on October 2021, some headphones start beeping to alert you that you are muted. Until this problem is resolved by Microsoft and headphone manufacturers, the following procedure is necessary.

Solution

Adjust Microsoft Teams Device Settings

  1. While in a Microsoft Teams meeting, click on the More Options (3-dot) menu.

  2. Click on the Device settings menu option to open the device settings panel.

  3. Click on the Microphone button to mute yourself.

  4. After 10 seconds, you will hear the computer announce, “Mute off.” You will remain muted, but the annoying beeping will stop. NOTE: If you close the Device settings panel, the beeping will return.
